THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!

Let’s start with a definition of toxin: Toxins are any substance that can be poisonous or cause negative health effects. “Toxin” refers to all the metals, chemicals, pollutants, artificial food ingredients, pesticides, and poisons that cause the body harm.

80,000 toxic chemicals have been released into our environment since the dawn of the industrial revolution and very few of them have been tested for long term impact on human health. According to the Environmental Working Group, the average newborn baby has 287 known toxins, imagine how many toxins you have been exposed to in a lifetime.

Unfortunately, you won’t learn much about the role of nutrition and toxicity in the body because most physicians today are still hopelessly ignorant in these critical areas of health. They are simply never taught about nutrition and detoxification in medical school. In fact, on many college campuses today, nutrition is an elective.  Detoxification, intermittent fasting and cleansing the body have been practiced for centuries in many of the Asian cultures around the world.

WHEW!! Alright, enough already, you get it right? It’s BAD!! REALLY BAD!!! But how does anybody know what to believe anymore? There is so much information out there that is contradictory, confusing and frustrating to discern. The world wide web has made communication and the dissemination of information powerful and scary all at the same time. Once you begin the discovery process about what’s really going on out there, it’s tempting to just bury your head in the sand and do nothing because it feels overwhelming.  Resist the temptation! Solutions are available to combat these issues.
